Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion dv2000 CTO Notebook with Vista installed. It's been
now about 3-4 weeks now that my microphone stopped working properly (cant use
skype). The only way for me to make it work is to uninstall the audio driver,
turn off the PC, turn it on again, then it works while the PC is on..the
circle continues after each start up/hypernation ..so i have to go through
the same process to make it work..
I have tried to update the driver, but it doesnt help, worse, I only hear
static after the update..
I thought the problem was with installation of SP1 for Vista, but the
problem started before that..
Does any of you have any idea why and what can be done about it?My PC is
up-to-date according to the health check up, etc..it's set up for updates as
reccomended
Thanks beforehand for advice,
Karisha

I don't know if this has similar properties, but when I had problems with my
audio device after a driver update, I had to go to device manager, delete
the device, restart and let windows recognize the device and install the
appropriate driver for it.

Hello. I have tried to delete the device through device manager, exactly how
you did. It helps, the device works only then, but when the PC is off again
and turned off, then I have to go through the same circle again..

Is this the same driver version you had prior to having the issue or an
updated driver?

the issue persists both with a previous driver version and an updated
driver..neither way works..so, there must be something wrong with the Window
updates...well, I am a novice and dont know much PCs.but i tried a few tricks
(as i described in earlier posts)..same problem..pity, cause the notebook is
only 1,3 years old..

Perhaps you can try posting to an HP forum and see if anyone has any ideas
there. Wish I could've helped.
