I know I am replying a little late, but thought you would like to know
I did get my HP tx1218ca laptop up and going again. It took a bit of work
but the issue seemed to be the hard drive. Installed a new (better) one and
Vista was back up and running after a 12 hour restore from CD's, and all
updates installed.
The laptop has been running great since
