configuring updates

my pc has started configuring updates on a daily basis. There is the only
the option to postpone for 10 minutes, an hour or 4 hours. It takes about
15-20 to configure the updates and then reboots itself. This is fine but I
don't know why it has started doing it so often.....it is very annoying
.......can anyone help please?
