Franky poo says I am a liar.. He is a fool...

This is true and I have read it in this newsgroup from others too...

Confirmed: Dell asked $400 for XP pro instead of vista in the early days of
Vista.
It is confirmed because I called the people that this happened to.

This was in the early days when vista was first released and they didn't
offer XP on computers for a while...

Dell before the ooutcry of thousands of people to get XP back on their
computers was confirming with MS rules..

PUSH VISTA PUSH VISTA!

They wanted EXTRA $400 on the price of the PC to install XP pro, no Vista at
all.

(just to clarify that it was not an extra OS)

Vistaboys don't hide.. com on spit out the truth!

Bullsh*t! Play back the recording of the call and the person at Dell who
quoted that price.
Otherwise you're lying (as usual).

"and they didn't offer XP on computers for a while"
Dell like some other major OEMs has sold Windows XP all along.
Dell marketing and/or possibly others capitalized on their expansion
of computers available with windows XP.
Apparently some have twisted that fact to make it seem Dell restarted
selling Windows XP when they never stopped.
Local shops have continued to sell windows XP and both may continue
until about mid 2008.

This is very similar to what happened when Windows XP was released
about 6 years ago and previous operating systems before that.

I and probably others await the source that shows Dell wanted $400
more for a computer with Windows XP rather than Windows Vista.
Also, if true, this is to be blamed on Dell with no one else
responsible.

Yeah FrankO, it's easier to believe that than all of your claims that you
have no proof of either.

The bandwidth argument is old, and dead........and wrong....unless of
course you're on a 9600 baud dialup connection.

Even then, the OP was 1670 bytes, 13,360 bits. Geez, less than 2 seconds
of 9600 baud.

Your reply of 2179 bytes wasted more bandwidth than the OP.

So why are you replying to so-called 'trolls', you are wasting more
valuable bandwidth.

Dell have sold 'business' desktops from their website with either OS option
for the entire period. The major difference is that the business desktops
are not supplied in a neat little package along with screen, keyboard and
mouse. HP do the same. Small outlets always put on whatever the customer
wants.

Tiger Direct and others supply barebones boxes onto which the customer can
install whatever the customer wishes. There are and have been laptops also
offered with XP. They may not have been the models that some would have
chosen, but that does not alter the fact that XP has not really disappeared
at all. The difference is that it is now having to share space with Vista.
Major stores may well have baulked at requests for XP, but it would be for
the customer to make the choice of buying what was there or looking
elsewhere.

Your claims of Vista not working for anybody at all are as wild as your
claims that XP is not available. Perhaps you should take a trip out and
actually look for yourself instead of posting URLs to old and now incorrect
information, or making your own stuff up to fit the facts as you want others
to see them.
