Our DFS system just went live last weekend, and we've been having a few
troubles with DFSR and conflicting files. If anyone can shed some light on
the following questions, it'd be appreciated:
1. In our ConflictandDeleted folders, there are MANY 0kb files that don't
currently show up in the log as 4412 events. What are these, and are they
actually conflicts? There are multiples of the same file, with slightly
different strings appended to the filename.
2. Occasionally a 4412 event is logged, where it lists this: Original File
Path: D:\sharedfolder\DfsrPrivate\ConflictAndDeleted\fil ename....
How can there be a conflict in the ConflictandDeleted folder?
3. Occasionally the replication is causing whole folders to be deleted. For
example: ServerA contains a folder with various files and subfolders. ServerB
is in a replication group with ServerA, across the WAN, which includes the
previously mentioned folder. On ServerB, additional files and folders are
placed into the original folder. The files begin replicating to ServerA, but
somewhere along the line, DFS thinks ServerA has the most recent files, and
the additional files are deleted.
We have confirmed that no one was touching that folder on ServerA at the
time, so somehow DFS took ServerA as authoritative even though files were
waiting to be replicated from ServerB. Very frustrating.
Thanks,
