Conflicts in Office 2003 after Vista Updates

I installed several Vista Updates (for the month of October) yesterday and
now I'm unable to open and use programs from Office 2003.
I receive an error message that "Microsoft Excel has not been installed for
the current user. Please run setup to install the application." I get similar
error message if I try to open Publisher or Access.

A warning message appears with opening Word that "the function you are
attempting to run contains macros or content that requires macro language
report..." I am able to remove this warning with repeatedly clicking OK. But
this is annoying.

No messages with PowerPoint, or Outlook. No apparent conflicts with these
programs.

Have you tried Help\Detect and Repair in Excel and or Publisher. You will need your Office installation CD's to have the latter work

Using Help\Detect and Repair might be a good solution if I could access the
program. That's the problem.
It's pretty freaking ridiculous that I have to get out my installation CDs
to repair a problem that was created by a WINDOWS update download. (...pardon
my frustration)

Then try Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Microsoft
Office->Change->Repair.
