The info on MSDN is correct, Mel. First apply SP3, then install IE7.
That way, if anything goes awry with IE7, all you will have to do is to
uninstall IE7 from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and the
system will revert to IE6.
Whomever posted that IE7 should be installed first has it *completely
wrong*. The update installation issue has nothing to do with IE7.
It's caused by an update system component file that needs to be
registered from a Command Prompt.
