Connect to Internet Then It Disconnects

everytime i connect to the internet it works for a little bit and then shuts
down on the computer with the modem but my other three computers cant even
get a connection from this computer and when it does it works for at least
two mins.
I need to find out how to keep a stable connects so all of our computers
will stay online.
All of my computers were working fine but all of a sudden they sarted to
disconnect

Windows versions? IE versions? How do the machines connect? Is a router
involved?

Is any other program (like a mail program) involved when this happens?
