I have a brand new Vista 64 Business Dell that I can not get it to join
our domain. My domain server is a Windows 2000 server. Every other XP
machine in the office works fine but Vista continues to tell me the
active directory domain controller can not be contacted. It basically
states that my DNS does not exist.

Why cant I connect this machine when I have no problems with XP? I am
really regretting getting Vista on this machine.

Any errors if running nslookup? If not, have you tried joined the domain
using FQDN?

OK I seemed to be able to get on to my domain. I did this by hard wiring
the machine and I was able to change from a work group to the domain. I
was unable to map the drives. Then, I some how deleted my account that
had permissions and now I cant make any changes because it is telling me
I don't have permissions even though its the same login and password as
I was using. I am hating Vista and regretting this purchase. I dont have
time for this. How do I return to a login with permissions? How do I get
back to where I was?
