Hi Ranjit,
This is the statement in the manual ---
================================================== =
CAUTION: For synchronization to work properly, install Microsoft
ActiveSync on your computer *before* you connect your iPAQ Pocket PC
to your computer.
================================================== =
It does not imply that you will never be able to sync if you connect with
the PC prior to installation of Activesync.
If the USB cradle is connected to the USB port prior to the installation of
Microsoft ActiveSync, a USB device will be detected and the Add New Hardware
Wizard will start. However, the correct USB drivers for Windows CE will not
be available for installation. The correct USB drivers can only be detected
after installing ActiveSync on your computer. Hence the caution is
provided.
There is no harm if you reinstall Activesync. Disconnect the PPC and then
proceed to uninstall. All you need to remember is to install Activesync
again before connecting your iPAQ. Coming to your problem, I would first
try to recreate the partnership before reinstalling Activesync.
Partnership is like a handshake. It will help the computer recognize the
device for synchronization purpose whenever it is connected subsequently.
Often you will come across situations where you will need to recreate the
partnership.
Delete and then recreate the partnership.
To delete the partnership ---
1. Disconnect the PPC from the computer.
2. On the computer, open Microsoft ActiveSync.
3. Click File -> Delete Partnerships to remove any previously
created partnerships.
Connect the PPC again and establish a new partnership. Hope this information
helps solve your problem.
Welcome to the Pocket PC club !!
