Complicated issue possibly.
New Mobile 6 - Blackjack2 replacing Jornada 568. Deleted previous partnership. Uninstalled, reinstalled AS 4.5 (from fresh new MS download) Outlook ver Office 2007 Ultimate XPSP3 Firewall ports open on the Windows Firewall (no others in use) T 26675 T 5721 T 5678 T 990 U 5679 U 990 ( just in case) allowing WCESMgr.svc - d:\progra~\msactivesync\WCESMgr.svc allowing RAPIMGR.exe - d:\progra~\msactivesync\RAPIMGR.exe allowing wcescomm.exe - d:\progra~\msactivesync\wcescomm.exe Turned off Checkpoint VPN client (stopped) (thru systray) Then I stopped the Checkpoint SecureRemote Watchdog in Services. Apps in taskman are: Wcesmgr.exe wcescomme.exe rapimgr.exe When the USB cable is not connected to the device AS says "No partnerships" When I plug in the device - AS says "Connecting" and just sits there... My question: Do I need to remove the partnership on the device (from once sucessful, but not since having the sim card updated at the store with my old phone numbers from my old card)? Is there a residual partnership that I can remove on the PC somewhere as well? The inept Troubleshooter should be shot, it only refers me to the KB article that mentions adding port 990 (not even mentioning UDP or TCP). Here is details from my aslog.txt: Pinging Desktop gateway 10.10.1.1 started Ping echoed successfully Pinging Device 169.254.2.2 started Ping echoed successfully Unable to establish a connection between the PC and the device. Get up-to-date solutions to common connection problems. Please click the following link: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65257 The device appears to be disconnected. Please connect your device to the PC ActiveSync is performing a sync, please wait...... Searching ActiveSync log file No errors found in ActiveSync log file Exiting I'm wondering if the device should have a uniquie IP address on the network... 169.x.x.x is APIPA. I tried a static ip on my private lan - but that made it unavailable to connect at all. Windows Mobile-based Device#2 (where is #1? leftover in registry perhaps?) 10.28.2005 5.1.2600.2781 - driver version I just need the partnership to connect and I think I can work out the rest of the kinks. Any suggestions are appreciated. Adena Wilder MCSE+NT4, MCSE-2000, MCSA-2003 - and former (embarrassed to admit, once supported ppc in the first early days at MS) ![]() |

Hi,
Most VPNs are implemented to not allow you to use a split horizon which means that all other network connections are disabled including ActiveSync. Interesting... I tried the fwkern -re in a simple batch file - and it ran,
but made no difference. I have disabled in Services the CheckPoint Secure REmote Service, Checkpoint Securemote Watchdog - to no avail. I have also disabled the Windows Firewall (in services) All the ports mentioned in your article are open/added - and did work for the one time I got it to sync. I think when the gal at the AT&T store transferred data from my old sim card to my new one, she broke something? Been talking to the Tier 3 tech's at Samsung - I have deleted the partnership on the device, reconnected (greyed out said : No Partnerships) then it says Connecting - and just sits there... but in Network Connections shows up at Local Area Connection 5 - Connected - still no worky. The log file in the device for ActiveSync says: ConnInfo: failed 0x80004005 then a bunch of these: AppWndProc - IDM_STOP_REPLICATION Killing RAPI timer IDM_STOP_REPLICATION Netconnect () IDM_STOP_REPLICATION NetConnect(): Posting Quit a bit farther down... WM_NETCONNECT 0 SetFwdToDesktop IDM_STOP_REPLICATION Not sure where to go from here. Any other suggestions? What about residual partnerships? Should I attempt to remove them from the pc somewhere? Hi,
If you replaced your device, then you need to delete the old partnership on the PC. This is done in ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center. -- Chris De Herrera http://www.pocketpcfaq.com http://www.pocketpctalk.com http://www.tabletpctalk.com http://www.mobilitytalk.com "Adena" <> wrote in message news:BEBDA9B1-35C1-4161-9F1E-... > Interesting... OK - Everyone at Samsung is telling me that SP3 is my problem.
Obvious oversite on MS - especially with people such as myself running XP for work use, and needing to sync my ppc. Is there another version of ActiveSync that I can use with SP3? An older version perhaps? Or would the Vista sync tool work on SP3? Thanks Adena Wilder "Chris De Herrera" wrote: > Hi, > If you replaced your device, then you need to delete the old partnership on > the PC. Sorry Chris, but I guess we aren't going to get anywhere.
I have numerously uninstalled and reinstalled - there is no change. I've done quite a bit of TShooting at this point. Recently I have turned to Technet forum for a solution to this issue, even requesting a possible Beta version of AS to use with SP3, and emailed a former colleague at MS Las Colinas, that might be able to help. According to 4.5 installation notes and Samsung, it would appear the real solution is to uninstall SP3. I find that suggestion unacceptable. Holding out for a real solution.... or taking the damn Windows phone back this week. Thanks for your help. Sincerely, Adena Wilder "Chris De Herrera" wrote: > Hi, > If you replaced your device, then you need to delete the old partnership on > the PC. I'm not having any problems with XPSP3 and AS4.5 on my machine. I would
guess that this is related to some security software on the PC, perhaps as part of the VPN. Yes, the device should end up with a unique IP address, assigned statically to the device on the network settings for the USB RNDIS device, which is what the mobile device looks like to a PC (a network adapter). You may be able to configure your mobile device to communicate with the PC over a serial-over-USB connection, instead, which is likely to interfere less with VPN stuff, etc. That's a setting in ActiveSync *on the device* (disable Advanced Networking Services or something like that). RESOLVED!
Fix was definitely related to the transfer of data from my old sim card to the new one. It somehow corrupted the partnership. I was unable to clean it out within the OS where it would work. Here are the steps to my final fix: Created additional exceptions in Windows Firewall: 999 TCP 990 TCP 26675 TCP 5721 TCP 5679 UDP There will be residual exceptions created by the Activesnyc installer referring ot the WCESmgr.exe and RAPIMgr.exe Stopped Checkpoint VPN client services in services snap-in mmc - there were only 2. I will test connection with them enabled at a later time to see if that was even necessary. Final step was a HARD RESET on the phone itself. Power off unit. Push the up button, holding it while pushing the power button at the same time - for a few seconds - then a black screen, similiar to a dos screen will come up - and the reset will be complete. Be aware you will lose any data on the phone when you do this. So email, or transfer through other methods anything you wish to keep prior to this final step. Thanks guys for all your help.
