connecting a HDD using W ME

HI
i try to install a HDD on my personnal computer using W ME.
This HDD works perfectly well with W 2000 and W XP ( i checked), .
I got some troubles to set it up, but when at last I had succeeded in making
it to be recognised by the system, i was prompted to format it. I have many
data on it, and of course it's impossible.
How can I do ?

If you used this hard disk on 2000 and XP, then the chances are that it was
formatted as NTFS. NTFS cannot be used by Windows ME/9x.

First issue please: Is the HDD's file system using NTFS ? if so, Win ME cannot natively read it.

Maybe you can explain why you are moving this HD to the Win ME.
