connecting local drives to RDP (RWW) session

I'm trying to show someone how to share his local drives with a RWW session,
but it only works if I log into his PC as another user.

I tried some obvious things like removing and adding him back to the RD
Users group.

The same user can log on to another PC in his domain from the same home PC,
and see his home drives.

A different user can log on to the PC in question from the same home PC and
see the home drives.

The results are all the same using RD within the LAN.

So it's something in his profile (not roaming) or user hive, but what?
