connecting my mini ipod

after repeated attempts to install my ipod on my pc I keep getting error
messages that to stop the installation because of "windows logo". I cannot
get my system to identify my ipod is connected. I would really appreciate
any suggestestions on how to proceed. I should advise you I have already
downloaded itunes and I have napster in my files as well if that would be a
problem. I do not have napster connected to itunes.
