connecting my Treo w

I have a treo 700 w that I have used with the vista system for 8 months. The
cable began to where and I purchased another. I hav not been able to use the
new cable since I get a promt telling me usb device not recognized. I have
downloaded and installed twice the windows 32 bit drivers but to no avail.
Can somebody help me...Nate
