Check with the IT support folks at your office.

Need more info...
Is this network controlled by DHCP?
What type of range is it in? Private or Public?
Are you using a good DNS?
Can you ping the Router? If so can you ping public? a public number you
might try to ping 4.2.2.2
If both work try to ping www.yahoo.com if all 3 work it could be a browser
issue...
Is there a proxy server?
Is there a policy on a server that does not allow non domain members
internet access?
Is it just a simple modem + router configuration?

Give us more info and we should be able to help...

If you have an IT guy or network admin at your office PLEASE ask him /
her before trying this. I say this because if you succeed and he / she
doesn't spot your activities he / she will be annoyed, if you are
spotted and have not asked he / she will be annoyed. See where this is
going?

If you have a network in the office then it "Should" be protected from
outside access.

If your admin says "No" you are stuck with that situation, however there
is nothing to stop you asking if you can show a sensible reason to do
and who knows, in setting it up for you he / she may discover some
security hole that has been missed.

Hi

what i'm trying to say is that i will bring my laptop to the office an
connect it to the network. Then after configuring the IP address
should have internet access not necessarily connecting from outside th
office. My problem is that after changing the IP I still dont ge
internet access. The IP address that I used has internet access when i
is used in desktop

thanks.

There could be any number of reasons why it won't work. Any answer we give
you is guessing since we don't know how your office network is configured.
You will simply have to ask the person or persons that are responsible for
your network. Either they will help you or tell you they won't allow it. I
can only assume you haven't asked them because you are either afraid or know
that will say "no".

As an IT person, I don't recommend doing this without their help and
consent.
