Hi Blake,
ActiveSync uses TCP/IP protocol for communication. Sometimes disabling the
firewall is not enough since it has already blocked the ports that are
required. I suggest you try shutting it down completely and then attempt
to synchronize. If you are connected to the internet, then disconnect the
internet connection before shutting down the McAfee application so that you
computer is not vulnerable.
If you are able to synchronize successfully with the firewall shut, then all
you would need to do is configure your firewall to allow ActiveSync to
access the ports that are
required for communication. I don't use McAfee so I don't have the exact
steps but I think you would get the list of applications by following the
steps give below:
1. Right-click the McAfee icon.
2. Click Personal Firewall.
3. Click Internet Applications.
4. Scroll through the list and make note of applications that have been
blocked and grant outbound access to ActiveSync software applications.
