How can I connect with a Yahoo Messenger contact who is using the same ID as
her MSN Messenger login ? I have a friend who uses the same yahoo email
address for both her Yahoo amd MSN login. BUt she's much more often online
using her Yahoo. When I added her as a new contact on my Live Messenger, it
recognizes her address as a Live Messenger contact and not a Yahoo contact.
Is there a way to get around this?

And when I asked her to add my windows Live login, which is a Gmail address,
Yahoo does not recognize it as a Live Messenger account. As a result, I
received an invitation to use Yahoo Messenger.

Greetings,

If she uses both Yahoo and Messenger with the same ID, she should be listed twice -- one for
the Yahoo account and one of the Messenger account. Just look (or search) for the other one
on your list.

In the 'Add to Messenger List' dialog in Yahoo Messenger she will need to select "Windows
Live (MSN)" as the network type when she enters your GMail address for this to work properly.

thanks for the response Jonathan. I checked my list and she's only listed
once, and I think as a LIve messenger contact because it doesn't have a YM!
logo as I see on my other Yahoo messenger contact. I will checked with her
to initiate the connection from the YM side and see if she added me correctly
as a Live messenger contact.

Thanks!

Hi,

Well when she adds you, you should then be prompted (the "user added you..." dialog) to add
the Yahoo contact and that should sort it out and then you should have the two contacts.
