The connection to my local wireless network is failing

Hi there,

The connection to my local wireless network fails.

I can see it in the list of the available wireless networks but when I
select it and click on the buttom "Connect".

While it tries to connect, it displays an error message window
"Windows cannot connect to <the_name_of_my_local_network>", and
suggests me either to diagnose the problem or to connect to another
network. I've clicked on "Diagnose the problem" but it only says that
I can try again, or connect to another network, or reset my router,
then try connecting again.

I reset my router, tried again, but, again, it failed.

What is confusing is that I already could connect to this network
before and it worked perfectly.

Any idea of how to solve this ?

Best,

Catherine.

Hi Catherine,

Did you update the wireless network card driver per chance? If so, undo it
(rollback from the driver tab of the device properties in device manager).
If not, download the most recent driver release on a different machine and
reinstall the driver.

Hi:
The issue about which you're describing is mostly likely ISP issue,
because in the past I had the exact problem, ... cannot connect by
wireless.

In my case, I switched to 'hard-wire' by purchasing 50 ft. from a local
Staples that resolved the issue.

In my suggestion, contact your ISP, telling a tech. about an issue you're
having.

Also, according a tech., Hard-wire is much easier and faster, hence
I'm content with it, although of cource a hard-wire getting in a way
sometime.

Is your wireless router Vista compatible? Do you have the newest firmware?
