Hi all,

this is the error i am enquiring about:

"Connection terminated"

"The xbox 360 has been disconnected because an application has launched
UI unexpectedly, would you like to reconnect. ""

i keep getting this error on my xbox 360 when i am streaming content from my
Vista Ultimate machine. I have had the problem continuously since i have set
it up. Originally the problems were caused by the service packs. problem
went away when i removed them, as soon as i reinstall them i loose the
ability to stream (this being the first problem, would be nice to have up to
date security and still have the functionability)

i have now removed the service packs and another couple of updates and the
streaming works ok most of the time. every so often it just breaks, i then
have to use system restore to go back to a previous snapshot (the day
before). In between system restores NO software is being installed, no
updates are going through, the machine is simply just sitting there doing
nothing. In the most recent case i was happily watching a show then lost all
ability to stream.

Does anyone have any idea how i can determine what is actually causing this
problem, only way i can think is to take a hash of the system files and see
what files are actually changing but this will be a nasty exercise to
complete as i am not all that familiar with what are routine changes.

I am willing to try almost anything as the only real reason i purchased the
360 was to stream content. I have spent about 5 hours on the phone to xbox
support when i thought the issue related to the actual xbox, and have been
through all of their standard troubleshooting tips:

i currently have firewall disabled
have tried both the wireless (MS wireless extender) and hard wired
to my router and also crossover directly to PC (all same result)
i have removed all Anti-virus programs, Windows Defender still
running

Can anyone please help me out, getting quite frustrating having to do system
restores every day / 2nd day.

really appreciate any assistance,

many thanks

Michael Trott

An update:

Another streaming error occured before, i went to perform a system restore
and noticed that a restore point was created at 2am this morning by windows
update, i used this restore point and the streaming now works again.

Windows Update is disabled so i cant see why it would create a restore
point, and also no updates were listed as being installed last night. So the
mind boggles.

someone else must be experiancing this issue or have some idea how to fix it

thanks

Michael
