Constant restart prompt

This evening auto update had the RC1 version of IE8 to install. Allowed the
install, but something went wrong. It appears now that I am back to IE7 from
IE8 beta & the auto update prompt " Your computer has not been restarted
since you last installed updates. Clich here to complete installation."
dialog pops up constantly. I've restarted several time but it keeps
reappearing. Running XP Pro SP3.

Any guidance would be appreciated.....

I encounter this problem too. How did yours resolved or had it been resolved
by now?

I have exactly the same issue. Installed IE8 RC1...and it tells me to
reboot every time I reboot.... can't get the message to go away. So I then
tried to install IE7 (can't do it...because IE8 is installed)...so I
uninstalled IE8 ... and now the 'reboot' notice won't go away, and IE7 won't
install because 'a reboot is still required from a previous installation'.
A catch 22 if I've ever seen one.

No idea how to fix it ...
