constantly getting logged out

Hello,

I have a question about the new Windows Live Messenger Version 2009.

I just installed it, and am constantly getting logged out.

With the old messenger this never happened. It happens where ever I am. At
work, with super fast/reliable connection or at home on DSL.

I have no problems with streaming audio or video.

There must be some ping timeout setting on this new version. That
continually logs you out.

Is there a fix coming for this? Or a setting that can be set?

thanks for any help

Greetings Greg,

There is no known bug here. In fact statistically speaking, 2009 (and 2008) are far better
at not logging people out than previous versions just because of protocol changes.

By happening in both locations, are you using the same machine (aka laptop)? If so, you
might disable/remove any non-Windows "internet security/firewall" software to see if that
helps any. Additionally, if you're using Vista or Windows 7, you may want to try turning off
the networking auto tuning. To do that, open up an elevated command prompt and type the
following:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

If you're unsure what I mean by an "elevated command prompt", this explains it:
http://www.kombitz.com/2007/02/14/vi...ommand-prompt/

Finally, you can also just downgrade back to 8.5/2008 by uninstalling "Windows Live
Essentials" in the Add or Remove Programs/Programs and Features in the Control Panel and then
downloading and running the following Microsoft Installer file:

Hello,

I am experiencing the same problem. Currently I'm running without virus
scanner turned on. However: on another computer I have got Windows 7 with the
same virusscanner running. There I don't experience this problem.

The netsh interface command didn't work for me. Is there something more that
can be said about these command that may perhaps solve the problem?

I am having the same grief. It started after a routine update. I'm running
Win7 Ultimate. I tried the netsh disabled command and it did not help. My
connection is stable on my mobile device, so it seem related to this
environment.

What machine are you running this on? Mine is an Asus R2H. I'm also running
Windows 7 ultimate.

I would like to make sure it is not the internet connection that is having
problems. The connection is not that fast, so listening to internet radio is
not possible. Therefore I also installed Office Communicator to stay in touch
with my colleagues. As far as I can see now Office Communicator stays online.

Update from my side: today I tried shutting down the virus scanner and I
still have this problem.
It's really driving me crazy!

I've run some new tests...
Logged into MSN and on the same machine logged into web messenger. Also
logged into web messenger on another computer.

At the moment MSN is reconnecting the web messenger on the laptop returns a
message:"One of the other places you signed in to Mesenger has signed you out
of this location"

PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP!
