Hello,
messenger 8.1

A friend adds me to their list. I get the request to subscribe to their
updates and all that. After this they don't show up on my list in any
status. They simply aren't there. I've tested this several times, and I can
never see them until they send a message.

I don't think this is normal behavior. Any suggestions?

I've tried this on Vista Home premium, vista business 64, and XP pro 64 with
the same result.

Thanks.

Greetings Devin,

What happens if you search for them using the 'find a contact' field in the main window. Do
they show up then on the search?

I didn't know any of their information to look them up. I did scan through
the list and I didn't see a contact that was new to me. What I did find is
that there is a section on options > privacy that lets you see everybody who
has added you and from there you can add them to your list. This resolved my
issue. Case closed

Hi Devin,

If that made them show up that means they weren't at all on your forward list (your main
contact list).

Either the server just didn't do it or the 'add this user to my list' got unchecked when you
added them.
