Contact groups duplicated

Hi,

I have installed Windows Live Messenger 8.1 in two computers. One is an
English version and the other one in Spanish. After upgrading to 8.1 version
in Spanish, it appeared I have two groups of
everything, e.g two Family groups, two friends groups and each of them with a
set of contacts.

To fix the problem, I decided to move all my friends contacts to one single
friend group and delete the extra group, like that for all my groups. I did
this for the English version. When I logged in in the Spanish one, there
were no
more groups and all my contacts appeared in "other contacts" folder!

Is it so that there is one single database of contacts and I should see the
same groups on both Live Messengers? What is the problem then? any
workarounds? renaming the folders could help?

I have seen this happen before, but, I haven't found a workaround yet.

All I can suggest is delete the MessengerCache folder in %temp%

This has happened to me many times with v8 and 8.1, after contacting
microsoft support the advice they offered was to delete:

<C>:\Documents and Settings\<Your Windows logon name>\Contacts\<Your
Messenger e-mail address>

and

<C>:\Documents and Settings\<Your Windows logon name>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\<Your Messenger
e-mail address>

this works, however, it does not stop the problme reoccuring in the future!!

Hope this helps,

thank you guys.

The solution partially worked, I think I have already messed up a bit with
my previous groups.. Oh well as long as I do not start missing contacts.

Let me know if this problem gets solved on incoming releases
