Contact list not available

Ever since updating my messenger, I have been unable to connect. It tells me
that the contact list is available, and when I click on help, it says that I
have error 81000378, and that I should just wait for a few minutes until the
problem fixes itself.

Well, it's been a day and it hasn't fixed itself. How long am I supposed to
wait, and is it possible that there could be some other problem that involves
something other than waiting?

Is there a firewall that could possibly be blocking any HTTP connections to
the MSN servers? If yes then you may get this error when MSN is trying to
retrieve the contact lists from the server.

Nope. I have no firewalls up. I just checked.

how do you connect to the Net?

My net is always up. I use a wireless connection, and when I turn my computer
on, the net is already set up.

Windows Live Messenger requires to connect to *.contacts.msn.com to download
your contact list.
Are you trying to connect through a corporate proxy that has strict rules
or do you have any content filtering software that blocks certain
domains/urls?
