Contacts being removed from groups

Running Windows Live Messenger v8.1.0178.00, on XP

Recently, my contacts have been ungrouped and simply assigned to the "Other
Contacts" group. I spent a lot of yesterday reassigning them to the relevant
groups, but it's just happened again today (and also to a colleague of mine).
I haven't had this happen before yesterday.

Any ideas, please?
