Contacts are missing in the 2009 and Mail too can`t find solutions the
folders are missing, with the 8.5 all was working now i can work with the
version 4.5, my contacts are in the contacts.live
In the 2009 my contacts can contact me but they appear off-line and whithout
foto and because i don`t have contacts i can`t contact they. I import
contacts from *.ctt and he told that gone send a request (and they are not
blocked), when i start a new session they missing again, the same with the
e-mail i have to import contacts from the actual user to send e-mails and
when a start a new session i have to do the same
Any solutions? Thanks

Also i found that with the 8.5 don`t have any error when i tested the HTTP
connection and with the 2009 give me the 80072ee2 error, the TCP test it`s ok

Since WLMsgr requires a Live ID for use, are your contacts present when logging on with that same Live ID at contacts.live.com ?

In addition to winston's advice:

Use your browser to sign into your live ID - and view the
individual contacts.

You must check that each contact's details have been entered in
the "IM" field - in addition to the "email address" field.
Otherwise, WLMessenger 2009 doesn't seem to show the name as a
messenger contact.

When you sign into your identity at contacts.live.com, did you
double click on any of the contact names?

If so, did you review the data therein?

I suspect this problem occurs with any contact, where the IM
field is empty (or does not contain a valid messaging address).

In other words, the 2009 version of WLMessenger differentiates
between email contacts and messaging contacts - and only displays
those contacts that have been designated for messaging.

It would be helpful if other subscribers to this newsgroup could
test the theory, by removing data from IM field via the webmail
interface. If my theory is correct, the contact will disappear
from the contact list, next time WL Messenger signs into a Live
identity.

That is the way it works with my computer (Win XP Professional
SP3 with Windows Live Messenger 2009, Build 14.0.8064.206).

Pity. That blows another theory, then.

Bob,
Don't be so hasty to discard your 'theory'
Warlock wrote that they(contacts) were ok, and "they have the IM field with the correct messaging address"

A contact **without** an IM Address does not show up in WLMsgr09(none of mine do).

Note:
- A contact does not require a 'Personal e-mail address', if an IM address is present, to show up WLMsgr09
- A contact without an IM address is still accessible via the Edit Contact option
- A contact added to one's network(which may not have an IM Address and a Personal e-mail address) are also available via the Edit
Contact option

Thank you, Winston. You are absolutely correct - and I have
gleaned another useful piece of info.

As a follow-on from your advice, I wonder what would happen on
Warlock's PC, if he opens WLMessenger and clicks on "Contacts",
followed by "Edit".

If there no contacts in the resulting drop-down list, I would
surmise that his installation of WLMessenger has not synchronized
or downloaded any of the contacts from the central server

On the other hand, if the resulting menu does display Warlock's
complete contact list, that would indicate that his installation
of WLMessenger cannot identify those contacts that have been
designated as IM contacts on the central server.
