Same problem here on a brand new computer from Dell.
It had the full live suite installed.
If I go & use the old (4.7) messenger, it works goodly & shows all my
Contacts properly.
Looking in tools/options/connection from the live messenger I can see a
problem (exclaimation mark?) between the computer & the 'router'. I've tried
turning off all firewalls etc.
I suspect the Dell installation would be a 'dump' rather than an install....
don't really wish to start from scratch.
Any clues ??????
