Contacts reappear after being deleted

Hi,

I have deleted contacts and yet when I start messenger again the next day
the contacts and groups reappear. I would like to know how to actually delete
groups and contacts so that they do not come back.

thank you for your help. My email is not hotmail, msn or live.com.
I use my personal company email on messenger.
