Contacts seem to disappear from IPaq

Ipaq h1945 Pocket PC 2003 synchronizing with Outlook 2003 on a WinXP Pro
laptop.

At first, the Ipaq did not seem to want to synchronize contacts. Only
one contact out of ~700 synced. There were no error messages - just all
parts of Outlook reporting that they have sync - ed normally.

I created a new contact in Outlook, and that synced.

I selected all my contacts in the Contact folder and made them "unread".
Everything seemed to sync fine. I left the Ipaq connected to the
computer on its USB cable, where it was also charging. A little while
later, I went back and the contact list on the Ipaq was suddenly much
shorter -- only about half.

I did the unread/read thing, and sync'ed again, with Outlook open.
Again, all the contacts appear on the Ipaq.

But, will it last?

Does anyone have any idea why so many contacts would appear to
disappear. It isn't apparent to me what the pattern is. They weren't
bunched up in the alphabet or anything.

I don't see any view selection on the Ipaq, which would account for the
truncated listing.

Hi Bruce,

In Activesync on your desktop, verify the settings chosen while
synchronizing Contacts. Click Tools- > Options -> Select Contacts and then
click Settings. These settings allow you to customize the Contacts that get
synchronized. Ensure you have selected synchronize all contacts.

In addition, check the view in Contacts on your PPC. Ensure it is listing
All Contacts. This option is available as a drop down with a small black
arrow head just below the title bar displaying "Contacts".
