Continuous rebooting after SP2 update

Hello,

I am trying to update to SP2. I have done a virus check, spyware check and
created a restore point. I have checked the updates page and the only one
left to do is SP2. After installing it my computer goes through the restart
proceedure only as far as the black splash screen with the Windows XP pro
sign and the blue progress bar. After that it breifly flashes a blue screen
with writing on (too quick to make it out) and then starts the reboot again
from the begining, giving me the option to start in safe mode etc. I have
turned off all other programs while installing. Can anyone please help me ?
