I just had the pleasure of running updates and allowing microsoft to tell me
what I need to keep my computer updated. Now my computer boots up and after
the intial microsoft XP screen I get a millisecond of blue screen before my
system reboots itself - OVER AND OVER. I try to hit delete to get to
ANYTHING other than rebooting and THAT does not even work. I can't hit F8 as
windows loads. NOTHING. My system just keeps rebooting over and over and
over. Can someone please assist me with this problem. Frustration is about
to turn to seething anger and I am tempted to buy APPLE computers to replace
my four systems.

I tried that and NOTHING is working. When I hit F8 it keeps right on loading
and acts like I haven't hit any keys. It gets to the windows logo and then a
blue screen of death FLASHES for less than a quarter of a second and POOF its
gone. Then the system reboots, AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. I can't use any
keys at all.

Hi,

If you can't hit the DEL key upon rebooting to go into BIOS then I would say
that you haven't got an O/S issue. In other words it sounds like there is an
issue hardware wise with the pc before it gets to the point of loading
windows. I have had that before with a faulty reset connector on a
motherboard, so I just removed the reset connector from the motherboard pins
entirely and yep the pc stopped rebooting.

Sounds like a big coincidence if it happens around the time of your windows
updates though hey? Stranger things have happened, but it is worth a look.

I hope that helps some...

Cheers,
Trevor.

Turn the computer off. Unplug it from the wall outlet if you must.
Wait a few seconds and plug it back in.
Turn the PC back on and listen for the BIOS POST 'beep'. As soon as you hear that beep, press
and HOLD the F8 key down.

The fact that you're getting the initial XP screem rules out the BIOS as the problem.
The problem is your timing. If necessary, press the reset button when you see the XP screen and
start over. You probably just have a fast processor and you need the OS boot to see the F8
request.
