"control file" after running WU?

Some hours after running WU,
if found a "control file" in my IE cache
http://www.microsoft.com/1B8F1111_2F...ControlFile.rb
(time stamp: around the time I used WU)

I've never seen this type of file before ("IPP file" - "1 byte")
and I cannot find any reference to it on any MS site.

All suggestions welcome.
