I posted this problem a couple of days ago and still have not found a
solution. I am running Vista Ultimate and like to show the Control Panel
icon on the desktop. I also like to view the Control Panel in the "Classic
View." I have two problems: 1. The icon on the desktop shows as a blank
page (right hand top corner turned over) when I have the Control Panel set
to "Classic View" and it changes to the "good/normal" panel like icon when I
change the view to "Control Panel Home." 2. The link to the control panel
in the Start Menu/Button does not work - it just does nothing when I click
on it if the Start Menu option is set to "Display as Link." If I change the
Start Menu option to "Display as Menu" then all the Control Panel stuff
shows as a menu like it is supposed to do. I assume the two problems are
related and I got something screwed up in the registry. Everything else
seems to be ok. Does anybody out there have any ideas on what I can do to
fix the problems short of taking the easy way out and reinstalling? Will
repair do anything to fix something this minor? I have another system
running Vista Home Premium and it does not have this problem - it is a more
recent install so I have not had a chance to mess it up!!
