Greetings from (old) Europe,
I gave a look at Regedit and realized that I had 9 ControlSet points,
whereas with XP, I had only 2 or 3.
What does that mean?
It there a threat or something serious to be expected? What should I do?
Thanks in advance

Have a look at the following Knowledge Base Article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/100010

If you have suspect virus activity or malware, you should always run a virus
scan and check for malawar/adware as well. While multiple ControlSets in
and of themselves do not necessarily indicate such a condition, the fact
you mention it should at least prompt you to take the necessary precautions
such as scans especially if you have noted other suspicious activity,
especially if you are in the habit of downloading files from file swapping
sites or opening attachments from ANY source without first scanning for
viruses.
