Greetings,
You can get the exact location of the message history (if it's on) by clicking the Tools menu
(or press Alt-T if the menu is hidden), then Options, click the Messages category and note
the "Save my conversations in this folder" folder. You can then go into that folder and
remove the ones you don't want.
Additionally, you can just right-click a contact in the main contact list, choose View, then
Message History and assuming there is some history, just click the 'Delete History' button.
