Converting audio into text

I use a digital voice recorder alot and I find it quite time consuming to
type up all the notes I take using it. I one solution I have found to this
is to play the audio through windows speech recognition software and get it
to type itself.

However I feel there must be a better way as I see no reason why the audio
file couldn't be automatically converted into text without being played in
real time.
So does anyone know if there is any facility in windows vista to do this?
Thank you
James Brown
