OK I tried to fail over from one server to another (CCR) and it failed. I
was then unable to get the cluster service to start back up. The reason of
the fail was Majoirty Node Set issue. I then started the cluster server with
the /fq command on my ech3 node and I am able to get the cluster going and
exchange is running but I am unable to bring my exch2 node up. Now is this
because I started the cluster with the /fq command? Now that I have it back
up should I go into exchange and stop the mailbox cluster within the GUI and
then take the cluster offline and then stop the cluster service and try to
restart it manually without using the /fq? Will that allow me to birng the
2nd node back online again? Thanks in advance.

When you use the /fq switch only node will form a cluster. The second node
will not be able to join, this is by design. Based on the description of
the problem you may want to have a look at adding a File Share witness to
add an additional vote to the equation. In this way, if you reboot a note
etc, you will still have a majority.

Configure the File Share Witness

Our high end SQL server cluster is maxed out, how else to expand? Will it help to move tables off of the cluster onto other clusters or will that just create processing bottleneck on the cluster running SQL server? Daniel Clustering 1 07-23-2007 11:10 AM
