Hi, I seem to be having problems copying/burning a disk. When I put the
data disk in the CD drive, and I click on the drive, I can see all the
files. At the top of the screen I have the option to "burn to CD".
However, whether I select just one, or all, of the files and then click on
"burn to CD", it tells me there are no files to burn. Yes, I have searched
through the Help section, but it has not solved this problem for me. Can
anyone out there help me? By the way, I tried copying different disks, with
the same result, so I do not believe it is a problem with the disk I am
copying from. Many thanks in advance. :-)

Copy to your hard drive first...then to the CD.

What it is telling you is correct.
You have no files to burn to CD in Vista.
The only way to copy your disk, is to copy the files to Vista, THEN burn
them back to a new CD.
Get 3rd Party software, like Nero, etc to copy entire disk, where it will
put an image on your HardDrive, then copies it to a new CD.
All Nero actually does, is make you think less, and click less!

Trish,
I don't think that Vista has a copy disc capability. You will need a third
party program for that. If you simply need to copy files that are on the CD
(that is different that copying the CD!!) you will need to create a
temporary folder on your machine, copy the files from the CD into that
folder. Then replace the source CD with a blank CD and then copy the files
from that temp folder on to the blank CD. Copying the files this way simply
stages the files ready to be burned to the CD, so after you have set up all
the files you want on the new CD you would then 'BURN' that CD.

(There may be a way to copy with Vista, but I have never done it as every
system I have encountered came with a third party application that had that
capability).

Vista has drag and drop capability. If you have two drives . Put your
original in one and a blank in your burner. Open each in explorer and drag
the files to the blank . Once you have draged all the files you want to copy
to the blank window click on burn and follow the prompts . Your first prompt
will be to name and how to format . Make shure to read carefully about
Mastered or Live file . Make your choice and vista will do the rest .
