Copying files to CD

I'd like to copy a lot of mp3 files from my pc to CD-RW.

I have Roxio Creator DE, ver. 9.0.116 installed. I assume that this is
the best programme for the task. Am I right?

Why do you want to use a CD-RW rahter than just a CD-R? I have given up on
the RW discs since they are more expensive and have to be formatted. I buy
CD-Rs in 100 quantity and get them for sometimes $20(usd) on sale. Who can
argue with a 20 cent media? If you need to move files between machines, get
a thumb drive. much less expensive in the long run. If you are archiving
files, I would not recommend cheap CDs. The layers are so thin that they are
more susceptable to degradation.

I don't have experience with Roxio - I use Nero Ultra 7 for my fancy stuff.
Unless you need to do ripping or format changes, you should be able to copy
MP3 files directly to the blank disc through Windoze explorer. When you put
in the blank disc, you should get a pop-up window asking what you want to do
with the disc. Choose the option "Open writable CD Folder"
and simply drag files from your source directory to the CD Folder that has
just opened. When you have dragged all the files, you can click the "Write
these files to CD" link in the left side panel. That's it.
If you want the files to be ordered in a specific order, you would have to
add a leading track number in the format of 001- trackname (note that 001 is
not the same as 1, it will display differently).

I agree CD-RW is a waste of time and money. I have experienced that after
they been erased about 3 times they go bad. I am using Roxio 8, it will do
most anything you want.

Assumptions like that are matters of opinion, and you will never find
unanimity on something like this. *I*, for example, think that Nero is
a much better program.

I know several people that use roxio and like it. Several computers come
with Roxio Creator on them and many Add-on CD/DVD drives also include it
with the installation package. From what I know of it though, it is about
the same capability as Nero Express. The full Nero package gives a lot more
functionality in editing multi-tracks or making simple tweaks on an existing
MP3 and recording. (note that the MP3-Pro encoder costs an extra $20. They
don't officially support the Lame encoder anymore due to the Sony suit)

Sort of depends on your needs as to which is best for you. It's like
comparing Picasa to Photoshop.

As I said, it's a matter of opinion. I wasn't arguing that my choice is best
for everyone.
