Corrupt Arial fonts

Arial font has been corrupt on my Vista computer since the day I bought it.
It seems to be constantly stuck on italic although it shows as normal.
Ideally, I would like to unload and reload the font group but two things
stop me.
1). As it the screen font, I could find myself without any screen text
making the computer useless.
2). It's likely to become corrupt again almost imediately.
I have heard that this problem I have is far from isolated. Any clues
welcome.

SFC replaces all corrupt fonts as well as all other system files.
Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop

I have the same problem with the Arial font, except that everything worked
fine until I ran OneCare. I tried to recover to a restore point, but it
didn't work. I also attempted following the steps listed on the link you gave
us, but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated. All web sites, emails, and Office
applications that use Arial display it in italics even when it really is not.

Ok, I tried something that worked for me. The instructions for installing a
font are at
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...bde301033.mspx

The only variation I had was on point 1. My path was Start --> Control Panel
--> Fonts. The rest worked well.

When you install the new font, my directory path was c:\windows\fonts.
Select the Arial (Open Type) font and install it. I did the same thing for
all the Arial fonts just in case.

All my type showed up correctly after that.
