My boss was having problems getting his computer to boot up. He was getting
the message that the ntoskrnl.exe file is missing. He had used several very
good suggestions offered by Galen and getting further each time, but now when
he tries to use recovery, scan or even reinstall Windows XP, he gets about
35% through
and gets the message that his disc drive is corrupt. Is there a fix for
this or does he need to get a new one?

You might want to go to the hd manu.site and download the hd checking
utility

Thanks for your help. The big problem for my boss is that he can't get
online to do anything. He can't get past the start-up and basically locked
out from getting anywhere. Using the suggestions that Galen had offered
before to fix the file, etc, he's now getting about 35% into trying to
recover or reinstall Windows XP, and it's saying his disc drive is corrupt
and that's as far as he gets. Whatever is hanging him up seems to be at 35%
of the installation. I honestly know nothing about computer tech stuff and
probably explaining this all wrong, but since he's getting the message that
his disc drive is corrupt, I'm just wondering if there is a fix that he can
do or is he going to have to get another drive. Thanks!

When trying to reinstall, ensure all peripherals, ie printers/scanners etc,
are disconnected.
Your boss may not be able to get on line, but you are.
Assertain the make of the hard disk, go to the manu.web site, download the
checking utility to a floppy drive.
Boot the faulty PC with the floppy in the drive, and test
