Hi,
I am receiving this error @ boot Windows could not start because the
following file is missing or corrupt \winnt\system32\1_intl.nls you can
attempt to repair by starting windows setup using the original setup cdrom,
select r at the first screen.
The pc got here because it could not connect to the internet using Internet
Explorer and the use rebooted the pc and the error came up.
History..this pc is a Dell Optiplex 270 running W2K updated to SP4. It was
a member of a workgroup. The pc was upgraded to Windows XP Pro using an XP
Pro upgrade disk. The pc was then joined to a domain. When the error showed
up I tried to run the XP disk to repair the file but did another install of
XP. At boot I have 2 choices, the first boots into the new Xp install fine
and the second is the original that the error appears. I have tried both the
original Dell W2K cd and the upgrade XP disk and recovery only boots to
C:\windows.
When I boot into the working windows install at the root of C: I have both
winnt and windows folders. I find the missing file in the windows folder but
cannot copy it to the winnt folder. When I try and click on winnt from the
working windows install it asks to format.
I cannot go into safe mode, I have tried last known good install and
debugging mode.
How can I can this file into the winnt folder?

First, this is a Media Center forum, you will probably get more/better help
in an XP general newsgroup.

However, some points to clarify (or to explain in another forum):

Why can't you get into safe mode?

If the PC is now running XP, why are you trying to use the W2K disk?

If you now have a working XP load, why not just use that and get rid of the
old one?
