I have a message popping up which says File C:\$ is corupt & unreadable check
CHKDSK utility but I am unable to do this

John,
This group is for issues related to Windows Update.
Find the appropriate general news group for your version of Windows.
If on XP, see microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics
or microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

And do provide them with how & when this problem shows up.

This happens only when I use Internet Explorer and after I terminate the
online session and then terminate the offline session. Whenever, I restart
the CPU, the system asks to start CHKDSK. However, if I do not use Explorer,
ie. only work offline, and then terminate and restart the CPU, there is no
request to run CHKDSK
This not a serious problem, but it is a pain in the ... PLS advise how to
search for a solution. TKS.
