Corrupted Address Book

I have tried everyhing suggested on the articles refering to the problem with
Outlook Express. It seems that all the instructions applied to every other
version of Windows but XP that I am currently running. I am unable to create
messages on the Outlook Express, when trying so, the following message
appears "Unable to open Adress Book. The Address Book may not be installed
properly." If I try to open the Address Book it does not respond. I have
tried to edit the registry as suggested, changed the file extention, and ot
seems to work. And again, none of the articles includes Windows XP on "
Applies to" section.
Botton Line, How do I recover the Address Book ???
