Corrupted block bitmap?

I have run Vista Ultimate since November 2007 and have had very little
trouble. Lately, however, (roughly since adding SP1 RC - but I have no
proof that there is any connection) I have started to get a corrupted block
bitmap error. Can anyone please tell me:-

1. What this is?
2. How to fix the problem?

Please provide the exact text of the error message and when the error occurs
and what you are doing at that time.

Many thanks for the prompt response.

When I attempt to load an Acronis True Image Home 11 image I get the
following message:-

"Partition Error

The selected partition contains the following error: Run list corrupted.
Please note that you cannot change the file system and size of this
partition. It is recommended that you check these partitions after
restoration with your operating system disk tools."

I then ran a utility provided by Acronis which told me "File system error:
22 (Block bitmap corrupted)"

I hope that this information is helpful.

It sounds like the image you made is corrupted but I'd check with Acronis
Tech Support since this is directly connected to their software.

I have checked with Acronis Tech Support - they were the people who sent me
the test utility. I have returned the results but so fat they have not
responded with a solution.

The image is not corrupted because the Acronis Software has a facility to
check and has already reported that the image is OK.

As you can see, I have tried all the normal routes and solutions so thought
I would try these news groups in the hope of finding answers to my two
questions. So far I have not even established what a Block Bitmap is?

Many thanks for trying to help.

Sorry, but the error message is coming from Acronis True Image and the issue
is with their software. I've used Acronis TI Workstation many times
successfully on Vista so this is probably not a Vista-specific issue. I
believe Acronis has user forums and you might want to try there; otherwise
perhaps sending them another email or calling (if possible) would be the
next step.

I'm sorry that I was unable to help you.

I am grateful for your response and clearly now need to clarify the issue.
You state that the error is coming from Acronis True Image but the error
only appears in the Acronis utility when it is reporting (or purporting to
report) on the state of my hard drive. I have not tried the Acronis forums
so will follow your advice and see what happens.
