corrupted downloads

Hi,
I am using Vista Home Premium 32bit and every program I am downloading
becomes corrupted (during the transfer I guess). I use IE and Firefox and it
is happening on both. I have DSL and I can't figure out why this is
happening. I've also tried all the basic stuff such as turning off my
antivirus and firewall.. no such luck. And I've contacted my computer
manufactor about this and all they recommended was to use system restore but
I recently deleted all but the most recent point before I thought of it and
now it's too late.

They all pretty much say this... "The file you have downloaded has become
corrupted.. Please download the file and try again."

I have been trying to see if this is a widespread problem or I am alone with
this but I need to fix this. I can't take it anymore.. Please someone help!
Thanks

Had a similar problem with XP . It turned out to be one of my Network
Adapters ( the Nvidia one ) was causing the problems and when I switched to
the other one ( Yukon ) the corrupted files ceased . If you have another
Network Afdapter try using that......

This is happening to me and I've just posted a question here where the thread
gives a good description of the problems :

http://www.vistax64.com/network-inte...corrupted.html

This has limited my ability to download itunes, my virus updates, Google
Earth, new programs etc. I suddenly have stopped being able to receive virus
updates since 24 April 2008 ! I thought that it may be wireless
interfearance, but after connecting via cable, the problem got only slightly
better (I was able to download Google Earth and itunes). This hardly seems to
be acceptable, but whom to speak to and what to do ? Is it a Vista problem ?

We're experiencing same problem but we can't explain how to clone it to
another computer.

Any binary donwloaded file is corrupted by system, but if it's downloaded by
another PC it works fine. File sizes are the same but not the hex content of
the executables.

There is nothing about that in google, forums, MS support... What can we do?

I'm still having the same problems. I've contacted my antivirus provider
since I'm not able to open any of their updates and they've not been able to
help. I've just sent of an e-mail to my wireless router NetGear company to
see if they know of anything between their product and Vista....I can't
believe that after a month I'm still in the dark about this !

I can only say I have the exact same problem and I'm very disappointed in
both Microsoft as well as the vendor of my Wireless Network. I would expect
these products would have gone to at least some basic testing. (WHQL???)
I have Vista 32 bit, D-Link DIR-655 router and D-Link DWA-140 (USB to WiFi N).
Sorry that I can't contribute any further..

I have the exact same problem (Vista Ultimate 32 bit). Updated both the
NVIDIA graphic card and Yukon Ethernet Controller drivers. But still getting
the same problem. BTW, for me, the automatic Windows updates and Norton
updates go through absolutely fine. But I just cannot download any
executables including iTunes updates, camera firmware updates, etc. May be,
time to move to Mac :-(.

How can you contribute this to a Vista problem? The file is coming over
TCP and wire over the Internet. It could be that the path the traffic
has taken to reach your machine is hitting some relay station that has
garbled/damaged the transmission of data, as an example.

What you should do is take your machine to another location a friend's
house with an different ISP than the one you are using, use the same ISP
you have but at a different location or even use a dial-up ISP if you're
on BB or DSL to see if the problem follows.

Either you haven't read through the thread or you just too inflexible bent of
mind to understand the situation. If the issue was with ISP or router, all
other machines connected to my home network would exhibit the same problem.
But all of them work perfectly. Only the one machine running Vista does not
work. If you still don't get it, you will never.

I had posted here hoping someone will have some helping advice. Did not
realize that folks here are too defensive to acknowledge issues with Vista.
