Hi Shaw
Thanks for that, we managed to get into the laptop using safe mode an
system restore.

Should we turn off system restore and then turn it back on again, s
that there is no possibility that we will restore back to the corrupte
time. Or is it better leaving well alone and creating another admi
account, so if this one goes bad again we can use the other to get int
the system. I'm a bit reluctant to turn off Account User Control al
together

Jeany,

I would make sure that it was running smooth first, then you can tur
System Restore on and off to delete all of the restore points
Afterwards, I would manually create a restore point just in case yo
needed it later.

It would make it easier on you to repair user accounts by having tw
administrator accounts in case somthing happens to the other one.

It's best to leace UAC running as is for better security, but if th
UAC prompts are driving you crazy, you can elevate the administrato
accounts instead of turning off UAC. This will let all administrato
accounts not be bugged by UAC with it still on and with Protected Mod
still on in IE7. This tutorial will show you how to if you wanted to.

Hope this helps,
