Could Internet router be a cheap and sufficent DNS and DHCP solution for small office?

We have a small Windows XP workgroup setup - some 20-30 DHCP clients,
workstations, printers, cameras ... without a server.
How well should Internet gateway router manage such network DHCP and DNS
tasks?
Now we have a Thompson TG784 router as ISP default but it's capabilities to
serve as DNS or DHCP provider are questionable to me.
It's GUI is rather limited and doesn't cover these setting at all. In
default settings it seems that DNS is set to off.or at least I couldn't
detect any evidence of local DNS for cameras and ISP DNS was too far even
for TG784 itself, to resolve local IP.

Do you think, does it makes sense to use router for named tasks and
especially this TG784?

Thanks for any advice!

It isn't like you really have much choice.
With a workgroup you really don't have squat to work with.
