Hi all, I need some help. I have a problem that every time i loaded my
machine, it would use 99% of my resources after everything was loaded. So I
tried to find out what it was. It was SVCHOST.EXE, upon searchin the internet
it said to download procexp fom the Microsoft site to see what application in
SVCHOST was causing the problem. It's Automatic updates. When i end it under
admin tools-> services, the cpu frees up. Start it up again, the system
freezes up again. Microsoft has a fix KB Article Number(s): 927891, but that
didnt help. Any other suggestions? Because with Automatic updates disabled, I
cant even update through Microsoft update.

Thanks

Please try this. If disabling the Automatic Update service in normal
Windows mode freezes the system, boot to Safe Mode:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d..._failsafe.mspx

Once in Safe Mode open the Services console. Start > Run > type
services.msc
Click OK
Double click Automatic Updates. Set it to Disabled
Close the Services console

Navigate to WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore
Delete all contents of DataStore
NOTE: This will remove the update history available on Windows/Microsoft
Update
Now open the SoftwareDistribution\Download folder
Delete all contents of Download
Do the same for the Event Cache folder
Empty the Recyle Bin
Restart the system to normal Windows mode

Go back to the Services console and Start the Automatic Updates service.
If no issue appears, then set AU to Automatic

Is Windows Defender installed ?
Which antivirus/firewall/security suite is installed ?
Do you regularly clean out the User Account's Temp folder [Located at
Documents and Settings\<UserAccountName>\Local Settings\Temp] ?

Hi, I'll try that when i get home. I don't have an antivirus installed right
now, because i thought that might be the problem, but I had Panda Antivirus,
although I noticed that slows anything trying to access the hard drive while
it is updating. (And obviously, while scanning). The temp folder I cleaned
out about a month ago, and is something i do about once a month. Thanks fo
ryour help, and I'll let you know how it goes.
